You might call Mike at Dave Crossno Gun Service. They have built several,   405-396-8786. They even fit a Walker-pattern pistol grip stock to one of my #2 Rollers. It's a copy of the stock on the #2 Roller on page 275 of the Marcot Rolling Block book.

The Rifle Shop still shows all the parts for a conversion in stock.

Here is one of the few "sort of looks like a Walker" rifles in use.

Rifle shop may or may not have the parts.
Tom Rowes' Hepburn book is invaluable.

chuckster that is a beautiful rifle and looks like it shoots as good as it looks. was it from a kit or machined from a block?
If I can find the other conversion parts I may give forging the lever a try. worst comes to worst I can buy the parts from the rifle shop. just they don't have too many of them in stock and six to eight months wait for new ones.

John, no worries I appreciate the effort.

Here is a discription of the action made from stock.

Forging a Walker lever is a challange. I cheated and did some welding.
Would be very interested in your results.

very cool thread there Chuckster. Just scanned through it will go back and read it this evening.  Looks like my Walker conversion is going to have to wait for now. The rifle shoppe is out of parts and don't know when they are going to have more cast so I'm going to go ahead on the standard Hepburn build. I wish I was as good of a machinist as I am a forger I could possibly make my own conversion. You probably noticed my user name, Here is how I make my living.

I realize this would be nothing like forging the lever but I don't have any pictures of that kind of stuff I have done. anyway thanks for looking.

Maybe, you don't have to do a full Walker conversion. Lots of examples of bottom lever conversions. It might be a decent bit easier to cut the lever out of flat stock than to try to forge it. Maybe, good layout with fifteen minutes on the drill press and band saw would get someone at least as good a start as a rough casting would be. Nice finish you put on your knife, I'd think you could do up a rifle just as nice.

thanks Craig. never thought about just doing an under lever. I will have a look around the web and see if I can find some info.
the blade on the knife is pattern welded steel. The blade and bolsters are a solid piece of the same bar. notice that the pattern on the bolster is the same as that of the blade just smaller? the blade was forged out in length and width so the"damascus" pattern didnt become distorted. It just got bigger.

Hi s-p, that's why I mentioned your finish instead of the pattern welding. I'd figure to keep your pattern, most of your work was stock removal, but it's not so easy to finish an integral and it does look like you have a fine edge on it. Maybe you could mock up the action fit of the lever in something like plexi glass to decide if it's worth doing. Best of luck with it.

Pounder, I was noticing the size difference, and wondered how in the devil you accomplished it. Once you describe the process it's simple to understand- though I'm certain it's far beyond my talent to do. You earned today's attaboy.  Smiley
