Unless I missed something he wasn't talking about converting to centerfire. He had a problem with it only extracting and not ejecting which is only an inconvenience to me. He was trying to identify it and did identify it as a 418. They are great .22's as is. Mine shoot as well as most of my 44's and 44 1/2's. I definately agree that the 44 is not a good candidate for a hot centerfire.

You're right--don't know how we got off on that tangent!  Maybe because someone else asked a question about converting a Stevens from RF to CF, and the two threads accidentally co-mingled.

Yah, I had that other thread open at the same time and crossed myself up!   Embarrassed

Given that the O.P. reports that his rifle is a slip-fit barrel, is there any more question that it's on the Favorite frame?

Yes, from everything it is a 418 which is basicly an ovesized Favoite. I actually prefer them to the 417. Lighter and handier rifle and accuracy is comparable.

When you say oversized - receiver is thicker, taller, longer than a 1915?  By how much?  Just curious.  Will probably never own one.
