Hoban boys rifle model 45 ?

I know these are not highly sought after and collectible, but I have one in my collection of boy's rifles.  I am wondering if anyone else has one to compare mine with.

Mine is only rifled about half the length of the barrel and the rest of the length is very similar to the rutledge bore of Remington fame.

I can't tell if this is the way they came from the factory or did someone get an idea to try something - like a really long counter bore.

If you have one, could tell me if it is like the example I have?

I have spent a fair amount of time researching on the web, but there is no information related to my question out there.

Patrick Hoban was my great uncle. The rifles were made for a few years after WWII. He was an engineer for the Hamilton Rifle Company who eventually bought the company but closed it in the late 1940's due to poor health. His factory was about 3 miles from my house. I have 3 model 45 rifles now and one of them was my first .22 rifle as a boy. It was my fathers. The bore should be rifled all the way. Over the years I have seen many model 45 examples that were the subject of a home gunsmith.

Thank you for your replies.  Mine is a Michigan made model, and I am disappointed to hear that it may be an example of home gunsmithing.  I have fired it with both shot shells and .22 longs, and it shot well enough for what it is.  I collect primarily Stevens boy's  rifles, but I do have others in my collection.  I think the Hoban is often an overlooked prize, but it can be difficult to find one in collectible condition, and now my search continues since the one I have is not as it should be.

How does the unrifled portion look liked it might have been machined, professionaly done or by a butcher. Is there any indication of a connection at that point as if that unrifled section was added on. I would take Donnybrook's words as being totaly truthful who to know better than he and what an interesting connection to the subject. I find it to be more interestiong than the modification to the barrel.

It appears that it was drilled out and not reamed afterwords due to the spiral scaring left in the bore, but it's not a bad job.  I think who ever did it had access to a lathe.
