another vernier sight ID question

Looks like a marlin ballard base but the staff looks like what I have seen in person and in the books for remington hepburns.  What do you guys think about this one.

Marlin made a "Gallery" long range, and also made both thick and thin base tang sights. But I've never seen a Gallery tang sight with a thick base. Normally the thick base was for vernier tang sights. The staff also isn't shaped like a Marlin, so your guess of a Remington might be right.
