I am in need of one, and tried to contact Wisner's all day on Friday but only got recorded message.  Are they still in business, and or, any recommendations on where else an extractor may be purchased?

Try calling CPA they might be able to help you with the extractor.

If it's the central extractor, yes, CPA has them.  I just bought a couple for my 44 projects last month.  Specify what cartridge.

If it's the side extractor, the only place I know that has them is Wisner's.   That's a small operation, so if the nice lady who answers the phone is at a doctor's appointment or caring for a sick relative, I doubt that anyone else is filling in for her.

It's also getting close to hunting season .......

It's also a 3 day holiday weekend, and they may have taken off for the weekend. Try calling next week, after the holiday. Mom and Pop operation, and not run like a big business runs. I like that.

FYI, Wisner's office is only open Monday thru Thursday.
And with the Labor holiday this weekend, means they would be open on this coming Tuesday.

Also they are on the west coast, so that would be Pacific time zone.

Yes small operation, just two people cover the office during business hours.

Hey folks, thanks for all the input.  Maybe you could advise me on the style of extractor I need.  Looking at the Wisners website they have at least 2 different designs available.  One is has a fairly straight shape and one is bent to the rear approx. 5 degrees.  The receiver is have started life as Model 414 by the stamp on the tang and it was a center style.

If it's a 414, it originally had the "ejector", which is Wisner's part #8.

Part #12-2-CW can be substituted.  Which I have done on one of my 44s, since assembling the ejector into it is a pain.

It ALL DEPENDS on your breech block, as that model was made for a long period of time it could have either extractor and or ejector.

If the slot in the breech block is aprox 5/32" wide then the 12-2-CW, or the 12-3-CW depending on the vintage of the gun.

If the slot in the breech bloc is 1/4" wide then the # 8 ejector is correct.
