Pope lever for a O44 1/2?
Aug 11th, 2015 at 1:35am
Print Post
Has anyone here tried welding the back half of a CPA lever casting to the front end of an original Stevens 44 1/2 lever?

I want a Pope lever for my O44 1/2 but doubt that one is commercially available, even from CPA.

Thanks

CPA makes them be shure and tell Gail or Paul that it is for a 44 1/2 not a CPA

The O 44 1/2 lever and extractor is thinner than the 44 1/2.  CPA levers are a casting and have the extractor clearance cast into them. so if you try to use them on O 44 1/2 the walls of the lever are very thin. at one time there were 44, 44 1/2 lever Pope type casting around  that had no extractor clearance I have a few I bought 30 years ago would trade one for a O44 1/2 c/f breech block. I am sure Stevens used the same casting for the 44, O44 1/2 and   44 1/2 just machined them to what they needed at the time Ken
