These are Liege tubes. From all out and inward inspection they are nicely made. The soldering is clean, rib and water table are well fitted.

There isn't much information out there on this particular model other than it was one of the better models of export guns from United Arms Co ltd "Fabrique D'arms Unies, Liege Belgium"

If it was mine I would carefully clean it and shoot the heck out of it. I would not do any refinish on it. Just the way I like to do things.

Agree most metal re finish does not look as good as cleaned original, wood another story . It benefits from cleaning and fresh oil rubbed on

Thanks Boats I'll gladly take you up on that offer. I have a basic starting load chart for 2 1/2"'s. But I like insider information.

Per the restoration. I'm going to do a little on both sides of the coin ...and then shoot the heck out of it.
I've done a bit more research and previous advice seems correct in that it is considered good etiquette for European shotguns to have a bit of a spa day every few years so it's going to the spa.
I'm going to re do the tubes and firing pin caps as is proper. The locks and reciever will remain untouched but cleaned. The stock has to be stripped. Any contact with water causes the finish to go dull and tacky. This just wont fly for a field gun.

Sounds like a good plan. Personally have a lot less problems with re finished wood than metal. Cleaning and re oiling a stock is not re finishing in my book. Have stripped and refinished a few when I felt it was the right thing to do. Had a Stevens Junior once that had beautiful original metal and a beat up stock that just did not look right so I re finished the stock. Much happier with it now.
