Twist rate and stability calculator

Print Post
Several years ago my partner Bob Sterne and I were working on designing large bore(30, 357 and 45cal) airgun barrels as the technology of airguns and available ammunition had outpaced the existing barrel technology. We were doing Miller and modified miller equations by hand which was painful and unfortunately did not accurately predict stability in the transonic and subsonic zones.
Bob came across a calculator that was maintained on the Border Barrels website that was cracker jack at predicting stability in the transonic and subsonic zone. The calculator was essentially the Davis modified McCoy "McGyro" calculator with a fancy graphical output. Unfortunately Border Barrels was bought out and the new owners took the calculators down. Recently Geoffrey Kolbe, the fellow who designed the graphical output was good enough to put up the calculators on his own website.

This may be old news for some but for the rest here is the link

There was one other set of calculators that dealt with bullet design. And they were simply awesome. But Geoffrey has not put them up yet. Hopefully he does someday

Yes, thank you very much. This used to be part of the Border Barrel web site and it was deactivated when they sold. I'm very happy to have it back.

Bullet Design - Drag function
It will also calculate the weight of a bullet if you input the specific gravity of the metal.
