Scratch,

I'm not real sure about the #2 designation, but that is a dandy roller. Very nicely done!

BP, it's near the same size as a #2 best I can tell but has top & bottom tangs. The bottom tang is removable. Only markings is on internal parts, #13. I bought it as a barreled action, had a round 44-40 barrel with a ruined chamber. No idea who made it.

Frank, best I can tell at the forward / breech portion it's 1.180 to 1.245. It's not consistent front to rear by any means. Visually it looks like it may have been hand done and the case colors although vivid aren't what I'd consider quality. I'm thinking it may an import like the early Navy Arms or maybe a refinished copy from someplace like Bannerman.

Looks like one of the newer Rolling Block clone actions.
Not a #2 Remington though.

The #1 receivers are About 1.312, and the #1 1/2 are about 1.13 wide. The domestic shot guns are about 1.25 but, have a scallope on the receiver ring and none of them have a taper to them. Your could be a heavily sand #1 or as Vall said a Italian model.

The breech block has the thumb lever shape of a 1902 as well as I can see.

By it's width we might be able to call it a 1 1/4 Smiley

I think I may have tracked it down, an old Belgian copy of the Remington #2 in musket configuration with no markings, they were 44-40 WCF as was the barrel when I bought it. The action photo is exactly like mine, case coloring style same.
Interesting but "nuthin special",,, Wink   Smiley

skratch,

Here's a poor picture of a #2 Remington roller action for comparison.
