Cased early deluxe Stevens Favourite

I've always wanted to have a Stevens Ladies rifle over my many years of collecting. Recently a fellow said he had a deluxe Favourite, and in a case. It got me somewhat excited as most collectors do with cased rifles - especially boys models. I have owned hundreds of Stevens boys rifles, but kept some fine condition favourites that I plink with occassionaly. He brought over the rifle to me and opened the case. It was a fine early square corner Favourite with deluxe wood and a swiss butt plate. Beaches combination front, Stevens/Lyman fip up rear and a Lyman tang sight. I looked all over for a 21 or 55 stamp, but did not find any. The rifle was serial #'d on the barrel, action, butt plate and wood also - in the 27XXX range. Obviously a Deluxe Favourite bought for a boy in the 1890's, as a father would not have ordered a "ladies" model for his son. The case has nice nickled latches and corner brackets around the nagahide surface. I'd like to hear from anyone who has come by these deluxe Favourites in their travels. Tomorrow I'm to look at the large frame sporter that may have belonged to this boy or his father? I hope to get some pictures on here next week. .............. Ed

I have seen a Ladies Model but nothing like you describe. I have a nice Favorite with what I believe to be a factroy checkered stock but have no way to prove that it is factory. Looking foreward to seeing photos.
