B.S.A. front dovetail block.

Hello. I have a B.S.A. No. 15 the front sight is I believe a British Watson.  It also  has 3/8" scope blocks  mounted.  But this fore sight dovetail block  is nearly 1/2" wide.  Was this a standard British practice?  Did Parker-Hale make foresights to fir these large dovetails?  Thank you.
