In the old days in Germany the members of a shooting club or shooting society posed completely different then the guys on that Utah-pic.

They wore the Sunday-suit and maybe their honor-decorations. And most of the time they showed their club-flag and some valuables.

The pic above shows a north Bavarian shooting club in the year 1904 "Zimmerstutzen-Schützen-Club Aub".

I don't think some of the guys in Chinquapin Schuetzenverein ever wear a suit and tie!  Wink  A nice big flag would look good in the clubhouse, though.  I'll have to start checking into that.  BTW, Biggi, do the clubs today still give plates and bowls as major trophies, or have they gone to more modern trophies or just medals?  Do you usually shoot the honor target just once a year or every match or what?  I ask because I am organizing the events for Chinquapin SV and would like to at least consider ways to incorporate more "traditional" styling into our program.  Cool

Regards,
Froggie

Hi Froggie,

I think to this topic a lot of guys have some questions. So I opened another thread for that in General > General Discussion: "German prize-shootings nowadays"
