The following information is posted for reference purposes and as a service to ASSRA members who follow the J. Stevens A. & T. Co. firearms product line.  I have no ownership interest in this rifle, nor am I promoting the sale of it in any way, shape or fashion.

Hope it proves helpful.

All I get is redirected to their home page...
What interesting tidbit did I miss?

Can't get too much information! Just too little hard drive space, and too little shelf space...  Smiley

  Hi Paul F.  . ....

I see what you mean, and thanks for telling me.  This morning it was working fine, so something has changed between then and now.

Why would they want to block one of their own rifles from public view ?

I just went to their Home Page and jumped thru all of the loops until it came up.  It's a Stevens M-44 chambered in 32-40 and of the schuetzen style.

Then I compared the location address I just witnessed with the one that appeared there this morning and the single difference was the number 1762 from this morning was presently replaced with 1421.

I'm going to do a small experiment.  That is, I will replace this morning number with 1421 and see if it still works ,  and then in an hour see if it still works.  Apparently, those numbers in the location address are systematically altered at particular intervals of elapse time.

Yes, the site address is presently working with the No. 1421 substituted in place of 1762.

Give it a try, and we'll see if the number changes at the Vendors computer.

I just tried it again, and now, it will NOT work.  Interesting bit of creative

computing on their part, for whatever reason, I do not know.

  Sorry about the confusion,      Huh

Thanks for the back-up !    Yes, I agree w/ you,  the Stevens-Pope is quite nice and w/ the Stevens optics, it would be quite desirable to the Stevens-Pope collector.

Do you happen to know much about these people ?  It would appear that they are a bit skimpy when it come to providing photos of the rifles that they are offering.  My experience is that when one is in that price category ($5K), antique dealers with some degree of savvy provide six, and mostly more, images to potential clients.

Any way, hope you have a great Christmas at your place.

I inspected this rifle at the Reno show about two years ago.  The price is way, way out of line for the condition of the rifle.  Perhaps that's why it has been listed for sale for at least three years.

One more thing about that company.......... If you deal with them and they tell you something, make sure it's in writing. It took 3 times before I learn my lesson with Joe.
