Why?

If for NRA scope class probably better to buy a MVA new sell off the Unertl & not mess up a fine scope. If determined probably not hard to take the mount apart and throw away the ball, but then whats going to keep it from turning, No friction on the knob to keep it in place.

MVA is coming out with a A5 reproduction that will have NRA scope class legal mounts too.  Supposed to cost 500 bucks or so. About any Unertl somebody has will sell for that much.

The  W - E  knobs can be locked with the  tension screw on the mount. Or increase the tension.

Why do you want to declick the mount?  Match requirement?

I've never had one apart MB.
I'm surprise someone more knowledgeable hasnt chimed in on your thread.
As with most things, and like I did as a lad, I'd take it apart and take a look.  Best to lay a white cloth on the table to work on. That ball bearing, if it has one, may be perty small.

For details on how I de-clicked a Unertl mount, go to my article at the link below.  Once there, page down about 1/2 way through the article and you'll see the photos and instructions.
