Pistol grip cap removal- Ruger #1

Any suggestions on removing the metal pistol grip end cap? I dont know if I'll have to drill out the gold Ruger logo, the screw must be behind it, just dont want to wreck the metal cap. Have heated it and tried to pry it out with an exacto knife. Need the stock for duplicating. thanks, Pete

Why take it off?  Remove the extra wood after it's copied.

I agree with Joe.

Put some tape over the Ruger cap so the stylus in the stock duplicator won't scratch the cap and trace over it.

Back in the old days, Stevens Arms would have left it on, then painted it black so it looked the part.  They did ebony nose caps that way.  Cheesy Grin
