Making a take-down screw...

I need to make a take down screw for a Stevens mod. 14.  It is the same as the 14 1/2 only about a 1/2 inch longer.  The problem, as we all know, is those pesky threads.  I read some where that there was a common screw size that was close and would work.  The closest I have found with my thread gauge is the 1mm metric pitch.  There is nothing on my American side of the thread gauge that looks like it'll work.  Can someone tell me what size die to use on this?  I can thread on my lathe, but this is such a small screw that I fear bending it during the threading process, so I want to use a die.

I've cut screws smaller than 6X48 on my lathe PH.

If the threaded section of your takedown screw is short, you can make a screw on your lathe.

Had one of those in the shop a while back, never checked the thread pitch on the screw. It is possible to make one in the lathe, I have made screws with the lathe as small as #1X72. Dropped one in the chip pan and never bothered to look for it, just started making another. I did use a magnifying glass.
Jack First show the model 14-1/2 and model 11 as being the same. except for the takedown screw. They may have the part, try 605-343-9544
