Lyman Super Targetspot Scope Repairs?

Recently picked up a cosmetically nice Lyman Super Targetspot scope that needs some work (cross hairs are misaligned, will not focus correctly). Am wondering if anyone can recommend a repair/service person for same? Thanks.

You might try Parson's Scope Repair. There is a post announcing Gil Parson's death. He fixed and cleaned a couple scopes for me.

  Hello S.S. Shooter:

Congratulations of your new acquisition of a Lyman S.T.S. scope, they are a true treasure when they may be found for sale.

I don't want to question your diagnosis of the problems which you are experiencing.  However, the alignment of the horizontal and vertical hairs may be moved in order to align them to the horizon as a matter of course during installation of the scope onto the barrel blocks.

You may not have received the Lyman instruction sheet which was provided from the factory to buyers of these scopes, and I'm wondering if such a set of instruction will provide the necessary answers to the conditions to are wanting to correct.

Just may be a chance that they will.

Did speak to Gil Parsons son today and and will order the manuals for both the Lyman and the Unertl Ultra Varmit once they get back to me on same. Imagine they are still in a bit of disarray after Gil's death.

Also spoke with Bill Ackerman in NM via e-mail and he gave me some instructions on setting the crosshairs correctly using the ring in front of the ocular lock-ring. Unfortunately, it does not move the crosshairs on my scope. And, due to the guide-rail along the top of the scope (just like the Unertl), it is not possible to rotate the entire tube to align the crosshairs. Besides, I want it correct rather than kludged. It is in good condition other than needs a good cleaning and adjustment.

Also, am working on it in my basement, which doesn't do much for figuring out the focus, etc., due to the short sighting distances. Taking it to the range tomorrow (service rifle match) and will see about adjusting it then. If I can't get it to work I'll send it off to either Ackerman, Parsons or the folks in Tulsa, OK. The downside is that they are all quoting about six (6) months to go through the scope. Ah, well. I'll use the Unertl until I can get the Lyman back. Thanks.

I have had very good luck with both Bill Ackerman and Gill Parsons.

Someone else who has done good work for me is John Knudsen. He had shoulder surgery a while back but it wouldn't hurt to check with him. His email address is knudsen at ctc web dot net. Of course you must fix that mess that I typed.

Actually, following Bill Ackerman's directions on setting the scope while at the range today I was able to get the Lyman sighted-in. I'll likely send it off to him in November to go through as I still can't quite get the crosshairs to set up straight.
Thanks to all.
