Have you ever heard the name Rube Goldberg before ?  Do you happen to know about some of the mechanical inventions and solutions to problems in the mechanical world that he came up with ?

What I've just read in the prior posting as a solution to your difficulties sounds an awful like a Rube Goldberg solution.  Why would you ever want to assume responsibility for the errors that exists in your firearms that are the direct result of the manufacturer's negligence, or poor judgment if you prefer to call it that ?

Get the manufacturer to send you the necessary replacement parts at no cost to you, plus funding to pay a qualified U.S. gunsmith to install the correct parts and certify that the firearms are safe and within the current specification, not the specification to which the firearms were manufactured to.

The burden to make you whole should remain with the manufacturer until the problem is resolved and the arms made certifiably safe and not shifted over upon you to find and effectuate solutions as has been suggested.

By the way, the seller on Gun Broker with the repro Remington R. B. parts is " Old Western Scrounger ", who at this point has been bought out by Navy Arms, located in Martinsberg, West Virginia.

It's not as if Pedersoli has assumed any liability for the subject defect/s and is making available to any and all present owners of this particular problematic firearm a specific correction kit that includes replacement parts which have been revised up and above what was originally furnished in the original configuration.

What is offered on Gun Broker are most likely the same exact parts, with all their defects, as what was supplied in the original rifles that you own.

I offered my solution to repair a problem safely and reliably and so he could shoot the gun within 1 day at a cost of a fraction of what the replacement parts would cost or the cost of retaining a attorney. At the rate things are going, for the company to fix it or for legal action to go through do process, he might be able to shoot the gun in 1 to 5 or 6 years. I agree that they should be able to get away with it. Since he has 2 sets of parts, he will have proof of the poor quality do do as he wishes and still shoot the guns while waiting out what ever do process that has to be done.

Gents:
All your suggestions are greatly appreciated. I should be getting the replacement parts I bought from Peconga in a week or two and that should give me the means not to let the guns sit idle collecting dust.
In the meantime, I may e-mail Pedersoli again asking if they've encountered this problem before and, if so, how they made good with the customer at that time. I'd be interested to see the response.
I'll let you know.

I wonder why the US rep for Pedersoli has not weighed in here, perhaps this threat should be included ont the other gun boards...

I believe the US Pedersoli rep was Dick Trenk. I read and saw a posting on Pedersoli's web site that Mr Trenk recently passed away.

I'd heard Dick Trenk the US Pedersoli Representative was suffering from terminal Cancer, but I hadn't heard he's passed on. Sad.

there is another additional problem with those early Pedersoli rolling blocks. the geometry between the hammer and the block was changed slightly from the original Remington design. there subsequently were a couple, repeat, a couple, that had auto-eject issues when wear occurred and an oil film present. if you are going to replace the block and hammer, a person should ensure that they have recent design parts. there was a considerable discussion about this over on the old MSN BPCR board that is sadly now gone along with all the information. The forum owner tried to migrate to the replacement provided by MSN, which sadly turned out to be a P.O.S.

Dick Trenk had a particularly vicious kind of Leukemia. Dick had gone through some really heavy duty chemo-therapy and indications were that the treatments were working. There was an unexpected turn for the worse a couple weeks ago.

I heard that Mr. Trenk passed on recently. I never had dealings with him personally but I know a couple of guys that shot/had dinner with him and they have nothing but good things to say.
Tough to see the good ones go.
