Typicaly the 32-40 does not need the set screw thus that is probably why yours is lacking it. There are a variety of case that do require it yours should not be one of them. If your breach block does not drop below the breach block rocker pin and if your rim does not bypass the extractor there is no need for the set screw.

My 32-20 CPA has that screw, and I indeed slip one past the extractor if not careful.  Thanks for the analysis, I had wondered about that.  Now that match season is over I'm less reluctant to tear it down.

Pentz a very slight adjustment of the set screw will keep you from slipping another one past the extractor. All three of my now long gone 357 Max. variations would ride over the top of the extractor if not adjusted properly. A real Pitta if one does it in the middle of shooting a CBA score target.
