Impulse Bought a Stevens 44 .22lr. How'd I do?

There I was... just looking at an online estate sale auction..
Junk guns (ie; some shotguns that look like they were used as boat paddles, a couple spray and pray guns, bolt actions with little or no character... etc).

And then... lot number 239 came up...
A Stevens 44, .22lr Serial Number 18726. Not much finish left... but wood not seriously abused. Hard to tell much more from the picture.

Bidding started... $50... $100.... $150...$200... Going.. Going...
And then it happened!  My finger twitched and clicked "Bid"!

Long story tolerable; I won it for $225 (gonna be about $300 with buyers premium, shipping, state paperwork from my dealer, etc...).
All sight unseen, 'cept for that one picture of course.

So I ask...
Assuming there are no real suprises on the INSIDE...
How'd I do?

I've already placed a hideous number of bids on another estate auction to be conducted tomorrow.. so I'm hoping I did OK on this one!  I'm going to be eating Ramen Noodles for the next few months anyway...

Whew!
Good to know... since I know NOTHING about Stevens rifles (yet...).

By the way, according to the post counter down lower on the main page, this is the 999th post for the forum?  Who gets to be 1000?

Edit: Sorry.. mis-read that... we have 998 Registered Members, not posts.
Still.. wonder who will be the 1000th customer?  (Ben, again?)

The Stevens 44 action is an excellent action for the .22 rimfire. It has a rocking motion (the breechblock) that will easily seat a .22 rimfire perfectly in a match chamber.

If the barrel is not all it is cracked up to be, you can easily have the barrel relined.

I have a really nice Stevens 44 in .22 rimfire that I have been VERY happy with.
