Can someone tell me what kind of bases the old Winchester scopes use and where they may be obtained? Thanks for any assistance.

They will mount on a standard Unertl or Lyman style base.  Although I believe there is one Winchester scope that requires an oversize version.

I have a 677 Winchester for sale if anyone wants one.

My mounts are too wide to fit Unertl bases but are not wide enough for a modern base, although it looks like that is the type I need only narrower. I may have to make bases if I can't find old ones.

Is it a B-8?  I can't recall the exact moniker for all the Winchesters, but sounds like you have a scope that is sorta like an A5 but 8x- memory is failing me on the details however. You  might search ebay.  There are lots of bases listed there.

Contact Steve Earle ( Famed base maker)  --- he makes all bases.  His number is 781-585-6504.   Ken

Oddly enough, not 10 minutes after I read this post, Steve Earle called me to talk about some unusual sight bases he has made up and in stock.  I took the opportunity to ask about the Winchester bases for you, and although he does not have them at this time, I am sending him a set I have in the parts box so that he can duplicate them.  He should have them available to you soon.

WOW MAN, IT"S KARMA!!    Grin

Ken, I had thought about contacting Steve Earle but thought I would access the vast store of knowledge that is found on this forum first.

Mr. Frog, Karma indeed. I will call Steve and request the first set of bases he produces. Thanks for all the help.
