	I ordered on of these guns back in the 70's from a local gunshop. I paid 420.00 dollars for it and waited a year for it to come in. In the meantime they went bankrupt and I never received the rifle. I did manage to get my money back though. I ordered it in the 7 mag even though there were other calibers I would have preferred. It was years before I ever saw one at a gunshow.

They are a little expensive, but what quality item isn't these days? You'll end up with a precision fitted barrel of the best quality, all you have to do is select the calibre and the barrel profile you want and then ask for a quote. If you recover from the heart attack and you can afford it. Go for it. Harry

	In the 1970-s a company calling itself the Sharps Rifle Company started producing a souped up version of the Borchardt action on very Weatherby finished rifles. John Amber, who was editor of the Gun Digest, called the the "Cadillac of single shot rifles". Most, if not all, of them were cased. The company fell on hard times and Colt bought them and all of the parts and tooling. After the purchase some rifles were produced that had both names on various parts. (both names were not on the same part. they were mixed) If you can find the issue of The Gun Digest that has the rifle in it, there is a nice article on it if my old memory serves me correctly. I've had 2 of 'em and thought they were going in the hole with me someday. They are fine rifles and shoot well. I doubt if they will ever be collector's material. Shoot it! R. B.

	Many years ago, late '60s IIRC, a Colt Rep. was traveling around the west coast trying to get orders for these rifles. I visited a SoCAL gun-shop "Santa Ana Gun Room" and placed an order with the Rep. I gave him a cash deposit and received a receipt for my order. Some time later, maybe over a year, I got a letter from Colt asking for the rest of the $, which I sent to the gun shop. Later, when I didn't receive any pick-up notice on the rifle, I called and they said it had already been sold to another buyer! I inquired about my $ and they said they had no information about it and hung-up. Then a guy (Bob) called and said the check would be in the mail. As I had moved 1/2 way across the country, I couldn't get to the gun-room easly. That was in the early 1970s, I just looked in the mailbox and it's still not here They were nice rifles, though. OldGuy.

	In 1972-73 attended Cal State Long Beach and worked for Thompson's Sporting Goods which was a gunshop on Wardlow Road in Long Beach. As I recall, we got two of the Colt-Sharps rifles in, one was a 30-1906, the other was a 270, one sold immediately the other was on the shelf for a while. I also seem to remember that at that time Colt marketed a knife made by Barry Wood and we had those too, I think the rifles came with some accessories and a colt knife too. At that time I was a fan of the Sharps Borchardt (I still am) and thought that the Colt-Sharps was over-engineered and looked klunky, however, they do have a very smooth action and I think the trigger is adjustable, I'd love to actually shoot one! I don't think I've ever seen one in a rimmed caliber. Bob

	Bob, I have one of the Barry Woods knives, somewhere! It has Micarta-looking panels, and is a rotating handle/blade design. The blade is about 4" when the knife is opened. Just spent an hour looking for it but its still undiscovered , but that's not unusual, as I have 200 or more folders around here. Sorry about driftting off the subject. Jim

	I knew a gunsmith back in those days who had a great interest in those rifles but no luck in ever getting one. His source in the factory told him that the rifles had an accuracy problem that the factory was never able to solve, and that is why no more than the first run were ever made. Jack

	I also have a Colt Sharps That I purchased some time ago and it has never been shot. It is in he original case with all the tools, Tooled Leather Strap and all original paper work

	Allegheny Trade Company in Duncansville PA used to have the original prototype gun for the Colt Sharps. I don't recall the caliber, but if I remember correctly it was made in P. O. Ackley's shop. I don't know if they ever sold it, but you could call and inquire. 814 695 3131

	P. O. Ackley was part of the first company to make this rifle. If i dig in my paperwork I have the catalog he put out. at the time I was looking at getting one. Then they sold out to Colt and the calibers and options went away. Det

The very first prototype pre-Colt Sharps. They also have a letter from P. O. Ackley authenticating the gun. For sale, P.O.R. (No connection with the shop except friendship with the owners.)
