Wondering if a Favorite in 25 rimfire can be converted to 22 LR with out altering the breechblock or does the firing pin channel have to be welded and redrilled.

I would never guarantee anything on these old guns.

But, I would think it will work.  Even if it doesn’t, I would not weld up the fp hole.  I would elongate the small fp hole toward the bore center.  Then make a new firing pin that will fill the hole and hit the 22 rim.  This does take some lathe and mill work work.

I just finished doing this to a Remington #4 in 32 rimfire and it has worked fine so far.

Since upwards to a million favorites were made it's not that difficult to find a replacement 22 breech block.

It should work without any alteration. As mentioned, a 22 breechblock should not be too hard to find if you find you need one

Yes it works, or at least it did on mine. After lining the barrel to .22 LR all I had to do on mine was install a new extractor. I have since put a couple thousand rounds through it with a variety of ammunition and no misfires.

Depends mostly on the current block. I’ve seen 32 in 25, 25 in both 22 and 32.

It would seem that you can be one caliber off and still work.
