New ATF rules: short barrel rifles and suppressors

It looks like the ATF will no longer restrict the manufacture or possession of short barrel rifles, short barrel shotguns, or suppressors.

You can read the ATF “open letter” guidance here:  (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

I’m not much interested in building a short barrel single shot rifle, but it is nice to know that I can if I choose to, but building a suppressor might be fun!

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I posted in the other thread. Did a couple SBRs years ago. The novelty wore off and they don't get shot anymore.

I have A 25-20 and 32 miller that are threaded for my opened up to 338  suppressor. I can shoot here at the house and not bother the neighbors, an old can ..about 13 years  weighs about a pound. So sent it back and had him open it up for cast bullet...Sweet..LOL

May the Bullet Gods be with you.......

My .38-55 Rolling Block is threaded 5/8-24 for my .458 suppressor.
My .32 S&W H&R 932 is threaded 1/2-28 for my 9mm suppressor.
About half of my Contender barrels are threaded for suppressors.
I can’t remember how many single shot .22’s I’ve threaded, and shoot with a suppressor.

Suppressors have a place in single shot rifle shooting.  They sure do get gunked up fast by lead bullets though.

Very curious as to the cleaning solution with lead bullets and lube in a sealed can?  Ultrasonic?  What kind of solution?

All my .22 cans come apart, so easy to clean.  Same with the 9mm can.

The .458 can doesn’t come apart.  Well, the end cap comes off and the muzzle end comes off.  I put it in a tube with a 50/50 mix of vinegar and hydrogen peroxide then use the ultrasonic cleaner.  Just remember that lead acetate is bad.  Bad for you and bad for the environment.  Wear nitrile gloves, and dispose of the waste responsibly.
