Straight wall round for original Low Wall

Folks, as I get more mature, the ease of reloading straight wall cases seems to make a lot of sense.

There is a Low Wall with a round .22 Short barrel re-chambered for 22 K-Hornet. Never did well with lead, but jacketed did good. My guess was the twist for .22 Short really wanted something like the 225438.

The barrel has been treated poorly, drilled and tapped for a scope, finish is not pristine...

I'm interested in a straight-wall case. Not desiring a case that requires heroic resizing, or endless searching obscure websites, or eye-popping custom case makers.

25-20 SS seems to fall down in availability... Though I do love me the quarter-bore.
28-20 ditto. I love the 285128 which works very well in the 7-30 Waters.

270 REN seems to be easy to form cases for. You can get dies for it. I have a 280468 that is nice in a 6.8SPC [wish it was the SPC II with about 0.1 longer neck].

Looking for an octagonal barrel [shooter, not NRA 100%], either lined or other.

Talk to me.

If you need it I have a 25/21 reamer. Never used it and was told it had only cut a few chambers.

YOur could not go wrong with going with the 32-20.
It was "classically" chambered in the low wall.

easy to load for and fun to shoot.dies and molds available

If I understand what you want to build is a easy to load plinking center-fire, straight walled case rifle.
Assuming the out of the barrel is ok for your intended use, I would send the barreled action to JES and have it rebored and chambered for 38 special. Not much is cheaper or easier to load than the 38 special.
If you don't cast, just buy a box of coated bullets and a mild load of unique powder and have fun. In my opinion a solid original action is plenty strong for 38 special moderate loads .  Decopodge loading instructions inside the for end.  Much cheaper than a new barrel, loads of fun and cheap to shoot

Here is a chart that shows cartridges that the low wall will handle

Although it's not a straight wall cartridge I'll second the .32-20WCF idea. A wonderful cartridge with great availability of new brass and dies cheap. It's also a very good performer and can do just about everything you might want to do with a Low Wall.

I have a reamer, die set, annd all the needed action parts and pieces including stunning stock blank lumber to build one except a barrel.

32 S&W long. Another vote for 32-20 though.

I have a Stevens 44 that was 25-20 SS but someone ran a WCF reamer in the breech.  Cry   Someday I'll reline it to 25 hornet.
Or convert the 25RF.

.327 Fed Mag

A note of caution,:
The 327 Federal Mag, which I like and have several in revolvers, can be a fairly high pressure round in factory loadings.

Quick search

"The .327 Federal Magnum operates at significantly higher chamber pressures, typically around 45,000 psi, compared to the .32 H&R Magnum, which operates at about 21,000 psi. This increased pressure allows the .327 Federal Magnum to deliver more power and performance.
"

The nice thing I like about the 327 federal mag Chamber is you can shoot ALL the following , 32 S&W Short, 32 S&W Long, 32 H&R Magnum and of course the 327 Federal Magnum.

Brass and a wide range of bullet weights are widely available.
