Stuck sizing die in early Ideal bullet lubrisizer

Used a heat gun to warm things up. Has a soft lube in the lubrisizer. It's early enough that the die is held in by a thumb wheel set screw. The die is not budging. Using a spacer to push it up with the handle. Anyone run into this. Lubrisizer has sat for a while. No rust apparent.

Yes; the early ones had no O-rings, relying on a (very) tight fit to prevent leaks.  I've had to use multiple applications of the heat gun before the die surrenders.

I've been careful not to put excessive strain on that cast handle, to the point of taking the square frame off the machine, holding the base upside down in a padded vise and heating and gently but persistently tapping the return plunger at the bottom of the die with a plastic mallet.  I use a nut of sufficient size to cover the bottom of the die as a spacer.

Being very careful with that cast handle. It's not very stout.

Thanks. I'll try again this evening.

I broke the handle on an old one just by sizing a 50 cal lead bullet.
