WTB Page Lewis Model 50 bolt
Apr 30th, 2026 at 8:33pm
Print Post
Growing up I remember my father having an old 22LR rifle  setting in the corner. 50 years ago I borrowed it for our senior class masquerade skating party and there's a picture of me skating with it in our senior class annual. (times have changed)  It disappeared for 40 some years and I finally located it and got it this week. However, the bolt is missing and so far I have found no one who has one. Homestead gun parts lists one but it is out of stock, putting this out there to see if anyone might have one lying around somewhere. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

A noble quest! I am not sure what you need however. The page Lewis is not a bolt action. Is it perhaps the breechblock that you are missing? Do you have the lever?

Oops! Please disregard my comments! I see they did build a bolt action. Good luck!

I think the model D, models 49 and 50 all used the same bolt. I had a 50 and still have a 49

When Page Lewis was purchased by Savage/Stevens, I think that the Page Lewis model D became the Springfield model 50 junior.

I had a model 50 with the Savage logo on the stock marked Springfield Jr.. I've still got a nice Model 49 which seems to be a lighter weight Model 50. The receiver is smaller diameter than the 50. After looking at pictures I think the Model D bolt will be too short.

Well, I hope that you can find a bolt and I have not been able to help. I have gained a great deal, however, in reading DeHaas and learning about the Page Lewis swinging block action. It is quite remarkable. I will build one! Thanks!

Single Shot Rifles and Actions. His first book?

The Page Lewis looks a lot like a Stevens action both outside and inside. However there are extreme differences. The trigger, main spring and hammer are mounted to the breech block rather than to the receiver. When the lever is lowered, everything gets out of the way!

To me those Page Lewis rifles look like a cross between a Stevens favorite and a Ballard.

No reason they shouldn't look like Stevens rifles.

Both Page and Lewis were "downsized" from the Stevens Company when Savage bought it.  That underlever design (in various guises) was something they had been familiar with for 30 years, and I believe both of them held patents for similar design elements in many of the Stevens boy's rifle models.

If anybody finds a Secret Stash of Model D bolts, I'd appreciate hearing about it too.  Found a barreled stocked action for cheap at an auction because the auction company had taken everything loose off everything that was selling and put the loose bits into pans with other miscellanea for separate sale.  I couldn't spot the bolt in any of the pans as they came up for bid and frantically sounded out the other buyers afterwards but never did find the bolt.
