32-20

I recently acquired an 1885 low wall in 32-20.
Slugged the barrel and it mikes .308-309. I have an ideal mold, 3117 that casts about .311. 154 gr. Can I use it as cast or size it?
I also have an unused ideal mould 308156 which I have not cast yet. Everything I read refers to the above as ok for any 30 caliber rifle. Comments.
Thanks.

The diameter is right, but the bullet weight is way too heavy for a .32-20.  You want something in a 115 to 125 grain weight range. like a lyman 311359 or 311008. You could use them as a .311 or size them to .310.

The 311410, 130 gr PB bullet should stabilize. It was made for the 20 twist Carbine.

.308 is a vert tight groove for a original 32/20. You should check the twist.

You can use the 311359 with or without the check for a .32-20 but for something bigger like say a .30-30 you want a check.

I have a Remington Hepburn marked as 32-20 with a .308 bore and I use a Saeco #254 mold which casts a 115gr bullet. Its very accurate and easy to cast. (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)
