De-clicking a Lyman Junior Target Scope Mount
Apr 17th, 2026 at 5:46pm
Print Post
Wayne (Texas Mac) wrote an article for the Single Shot Exchange magazine titled De-Clicking Unertl, J.W. Fecker & Lyman Scope Mounts. Can one of you fine folk point me to where I can find a copy of that article or alternately email me a copy? I have a nice Lyman Junior target scope I want to use on a .22 BPCR rifle.

Thanks. - Dave

There is an earlier version of the Lyman mount that has a cap that unscrews.  The de-clicking if done from the top.  I have a mount where the tab as shown in the photo broke off in a newer style and it effectively makes the mount click less.  Unfortunately the screw at 2 is totally frozen.  If I could get it out I might be able to have the tab silver soldered back on.

Dave, FYI
The Lyman target spot junior is not allowed in sanctioned 22BPCRA matches. It’s front objective is slightly over 1” dia making it larger than rules allow. You probably can use it for club type matches, but it won’t pass inspection at Raton.
Hope this helps, Moose

The Lyman Target Spot Junior is not legal for NRA BPCR, but is legal for .22BPCR. The difference is that as per .22 BPCR Rule 2,  "any ocular or objective lens 1" or less measured from the inside of the lens opening (I.D.). " NRA Rule 3.4.1 says "any ocular or objective lenses, adjusting or assembly rings to be less than 1” in diameter."

Thanks for clearing that up. The Moose had me going for a bit.
