So here is the question;

The person that pre-drilled the pilot hole for the top tang screw on my
CPA 44 1/2 did so before the front end sides were well mated to the back of the receiver.

Not by much, off by maybe .009 so there is an annoying gap between the front of the stock and the sides of the receiver. If I take the tang screws out and push the stock forward for a tight fit, the top screw hole is ever so slightly miss aligned on a slight angle.

This is just not cosmetic, the stock has a very slight side to side movement, not enough to call it a wiggle but enough to know it's just not right and it's not tight.!

The heck of it is, I was standing right there when it was done, It happened so fast and before I could say stop, the person did what I was fearful of happened. At the time I didn't want to make a fuss as I did the finishing work myself. I had driven over to Dingmans Ferry to pick up what I had ordered many months earlier.

The top and bottom tangs fit great but the place where the stock meets the receiver, like I said, not so great.

So the advice I'm looking for is this.
Do I fill the existing miss aligned screw hole, with some sort of product fill and drill again. Or glue in a few tooth picks to take up the mis allignment or...?
Thanks for any suggestions... I have to close the gap and get rid of the looseness.

Bob
