30/30 question

I just bought an interesting Martini action Schuetzen rifle chambered for of all things the 30/30. Typical style but with a new 32" very heavy barrel installed. I haven't loaded for the 30/30 for years and I'm wondering if anyone could suggest some starting loads to help me get started on the path to accuracy. I don't know the twist rate yet but the bore is .3078. Thanks

If shooting fixed or breach seated, 13 - 14 gr 4227 or 300 MP, with a 150 - 200gr lead bullet. One grain less with #9.

No wads! Except at case mouth or bullet base.

Read the article on vintage 30 cast bullets in the latest Journal for ideas. I believe SR 80 became SR 4759 which has been replaced in use by 4227.

My two very best 30-30 loads both use the Saeco #311 tapered bullet cast hard and .001 over groove. weighs 164 grains from my hard alloy.  , Lyman Moly lube and WLR primers. The bullets are case seated at a length  to lightly engage the rifling. Powders are 10 grains of Unique for a nice light recoiling practice round and 16 grains of 2400 for a bit heavier load. Either load is superior in accuracy to any jacketed load I've ever shoot in my three 30-30 rifles.

In my Winchester 94 Centennial after much testing arrived at Federal Large Pistol Primers and 170 grain Lyman 311041 in 1 to 20 with either 14 grains of H4227 or 16 grains of H4198 giving 10 shot 200 yard groups of 1.8x2.1 inch and 1.8x2.2 inch groups respectively.
