Nice when all comes together fairly simply.

Jerry H offered me a 38-55 Badger barrel from a Ballard Rifle Co high wall.  30" #3+ weight barrel.  He said there might be some fitment issues.  The barrel showed up this morning. I had a stocked action with an octagon top with a funky patched stock and a through bolt setup that is welded to the lower tang. I bought it from Ron Heilman with a round 38-55 barrel on it that I moved to a different action.
The new barrel didn’t quite clock up and I didn’t want to force the last 1/4” so I put it in the lathe and took a VERY small amount off spinning the lathe chuck by hand. It clocked up perfectly with just one good tug. AND the breech block fit perfectly! Jerry thought maybe the shank was too long, but not the case.  Nice tight lockup. I had an extractor that fit. The barrel dovetails needed a slight bit of widening to fit original hardware.  I found a forend that I had made for another rifle that fit perfectly as well.  I added some scope blocks and a recently acquired Lischert 20x scope and I am ready to go shootin'

Good job, Jack.
Will you be campaigning the rifle at Raton this summer?

No long trips with this sore back. I had another MRI last week. Waiting to hear the next steps. I will have to see whether I will shoot this or my CCDST 40-65 with BP at Tacoma.
