Jeez…  How did that guy spend $35k shipping a few thousand pounds.  You can send a full 40 foot container with 40 tons in it across the Pacific, then across the US for less than that.  I hope that $35k was travel expenses, shipping, and the cost of the molds.

Interesting. I just had a 100% opposite experinence with a 10 year old rifle. They replaced the rifle with a current model for a very nominal fee, and covered shipping both ways.

He called Ruger and was given a shipping label to return the whole rifle. Ruger called him a couple weeks later and said they wouldn't warranty the stock as the "screws weren't properly torqued to 90 inch pounds". He told them since it was brand new he had no reason to check the screws. They quoted him $375 for a new stock, and after he complained and said it should be warranted they lowered the price to $210. He still wasn't  going to pay for it, and the woman on the phone said their records showed it was made in 2023, so not new. He told her it was indeed new, and not sold in 2023, and he sent them a copy of his receipt for last December. They simply stood their ground and refused to replace the stock.
Not the kind of service I've ever heard from Ruger, but i personally have never dealt with them.

It looks like he wants to sell all of in in one package and not part them out.

I contemplated buying them from Rodney.  But, and a big but, I don’t have time to do anything with them.  I travel about 50% of the time for my day job.  It would be nice to make them into a retirement gig, but that’s about 2-9 years away depending on how much money I want to have in retirement.   

I wouldn’t be interested in paying his investment including travel and shipping.  Figure he spent $2k traveling in style to Rodney’s.  LTL shipping couldn’t possibly have been more than a couple thousand (unless he sucks at booking shipping).  I sent 5 pallets with about 5000 pounds of equipment from Tennessee to Kansas last year, and it was only $2000.  Given that, he’s probably asking a few thousand more than he paid.   

He has 33 sets of molds.  At $35k, that’s a little over $1000 per rifle.  I have absolutely no idea how much Rodney was making off of these, but if you can make $100 each off the first 350, the $35k would be paid off.  Doubt you can make that much per kit.  If you can make $50 per kit, you need to sell 700 to pay for them.  At $25 per kit, it’s 1400.  And so on…

I don’t remember what I paid for all of them, but I bought 4 different kits from Rodney and talked one of my brothers into buying 2.  That’s 6 over a 5 or 6 year period, and I’ve only built one.  My brother hasn’t started his.  Both of us build various gun genres with way more frequency than the average gun nut, and these still haven’t floated to the top of the pile.  How many have been built here?  Maybe a few dozen.  How is someone going to sell somewhere between 350 and 1400 of the things to recoup their investment?
