And Beretta is making a strong move for Ruger. History books seem to have a life cycle for accurate information of about two to three years anymore

Maybe Beretta will make changes and improve Ruger customer service! Ruger has always been great on the small stuff, but get any major warranty claims and they wiggle out of it and blame the owner.
I know a guy who bought a brand new Ruger 77 last December and recently the stock broke while he was shooting it and left splinters in his hand. Ruger asked him to send it back, and when they got it they first blamed him saying the stock bolts had been left too loose or improperly torqued. When he told them it was brand new, and he had no reason to remove the action, and didn't own an inch pound torque wrench, they then said his rifle was 3 years old according to their records and they wouldn't warranty it! It sat in some gun store inventory for years, but he still bought it new. They want $375 for a new stock, so he told them to ship the rifle back and he'd buy a stock elsewhere. It's one of those laminated stocks.

Jeez…  How did that guy spend $35k shipping a few thousand pounds.  You can send a full 40 foot container with 40 tons in it across the Pacific, then across the US for less than that.  I hope that $35k was travel expenses, shipping, and the cost of the molds.

That's the way it read to me as the molds and travel expenses all added up to $35k.

marlinguy,

Interesting. I just had a 100% opposite experinence with a 10 year old rifle. They replaced the rifle with a current model for a very nominal fee, and covered shipping both ways.

I bought a Ruger Hawkeye at an auction that was missing a part. I called Ruger to order the part. I told the lady how I acquired the Ruger and had my credit card ready. She told me no charge. I was surprised. A few days later the part arrived.

He called Ruger and was given a shipping label to return the whole rifle. Ruger called him a couple weeks later and said they wouldn't warranty the stock as the "screws weren't properly torqued to 90 inch pounds". He told them since it was brand new he had no reason to check the screws. They quoted him $375 for a new stock, and after he complained and said it should be warranted they lowered the price to $210. He still wasn't  going to pay for it, and the woman on the phone said their records showed it was made in 2023, so not new. He told her it was indeed new, and not sold in 2023, and he sent them a copy of his receipt for last December. They simply stood their ground and refused to replace the stock.
Not the kind of service I've ever heard from Ruger, but i personally have never dealt with them.

About Ruger.

40 years ago I bought a #1 with a heavy barrel. I did not like the shape of the fore end as much as I did the fore end on their 'safari' model. So, I sent the fore end back to Ruger and asked to exchange it. Of course they would not do that and sent a letter telling me why they could not; a completely reasonable  and expected position. After a couple weeks I sent a letter that I completely understood their position and could they please return my original fore end? A week later I got a package with a Safari fore end. They were unable to find my original! A happy ending with perhaps a few corners cut!

Sorry about that I went into the ditch. I'll see if I can move it or scrap it one way or the other

I'd like to see the list of avail casting 'kits' and prices if possible.

Rodney had some very interesting models available.
