Adding a tang sight to a vintage Flobert rifle.

I have a nice rolling block type Flobert that I'm having a problem seeing the front sight through the rear sight. I'm old and have health problems so I can only shoot in my backyard 10 meter range. I was wondering if adding a tang sight would be in bad taste. I shoot some Stevens Favorites that have tang sights with no problem but the rear sight on the Flobert is at a point I just can't seem to see. I know this rifle is not held in high regard but I would like to have a fair chance at shooting it well. How do you all feal about my adding the tang sight?

I installed a vernier tang sight and globe front sight but I didn't realize how bad my eyes were so I went to a vintage 4X Wollensak Ranger type scope with the external adjustments. After all the work I found the extractor on the rifle had broken had to repair that before I could zero the scope in. The rifle shoots really good and I'll try to post a picture soon.

I wouldn't hesitate to either add a tang sight, or scope to make the Flobert more fun to shoot. As mentioned they aren't highly collectable rifles so not like you're hurting much. And someone else might later appreciate the upgrade too.

I found my camera and hope the picture shows up on here. I shoot Aguila Colibri and Super Colibri to make sure the repaired extractor doesn't break again.

Since your Flobert has already been modified with holes for scope bases even more reason to not worry about two more holes for a tang sight!
That's one of the nicest Floberts I've seen by the way!

When I took the rifle apart to repair the extractor the underside of the barrel had the manufacturer's name "Giles Mariette" and a number 697. There were other things stamped but I could not find any info on them. The rifle was made in Belgium. I used a tiny blank off screw in the one hole I made for the tang sight and used the stock wood screw for the other hole for the tang sight so the receiver isn't that messy. I know the rifle is not a valuable item but adding the scope really made it fun for me to shoot.
