I know that some of us, having been around single shot actions for a while, have developed ideas and built scratch designs. Information on these projects would be priceless!  Perhaps pictures of complete and/or disassembled actions..

You have seen this one before. (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)
Have built several other actions with changes I thought were important. Working on a modified Maynard now.

Chuck, Thanks! I have a hundred different questions!
Would it be possible to have a 'wild hair' sticky where all of us could post and explain ideas that we have developed? The information would be priceless.

I like your idea of a thread devoted to design/builds, and scratch builds. “Watching” the threads on the scratch builds is my favorite topic on this forum.

I think a change in the title to your thread that is more descriptive could help get this going.  Perhaps you could get the ball rolling by titling it “Links to Scatch Build Single Shot Actions” and add some links to some recent builds to get the ball rolling.

If the thread were to catch on, then a sticky would be great.

'Links to scratch built Single Shot actions.' Excellent! We would be able to gather together all those past posts in one place? And add new ones as they come along?

AJ, would you, or another knowledgeable person, take this ball and run with it? I am too old. I would help where I can. And I would post stuff!

Thanks!

I’m tied up with work for the next few months, but I may take a shot at starting a thread in the summer.

I have all the materials to build a sideways sliding vault lock.  Unfortunately, there are about 20 projects in the queue before it.

This was a major and much appreciated effort, AJ, though I'd not be surprised if there's another project or two to be found.

One thing this list made obvious, at least to me, is how frustrating - and sad - it is that "finishing something" does indeed seem foreign to Greg's nature.  And I say sad because if Greg doesn't finish such worthy projects, just who does does he think ever will, or in some cases even could?  (And, sorry, I simply can't believe that anyone that talented really doesn't care.)

MeTipUp,

I remember seeing builds that aren’t on the list, and I didn’t go back all of the way.  Hopefully, we can find and add.

Bill,
Looking briefly through some of these projects, yes there are a few that are still on the bench, but a lot of these are completed, I just never took the time to post anything about the finished project.  I have about another dozen out there that are in the works and I'm in full scramble on several that I've never shared.  Until you build a few of these, and submit either a post or an article about the build, in any kid of detail, you have no idea what that undertaking is like.  I have a post I started about one of the currents, plans were to begin January 1st with it.  Life issues got in the way.  The rifle is coming along, have a match planned for its use in April.  The article gets worked on late in the evening if I find time in the easy-chair, but lately the pull on the eyelids when I do find the chair is overwhelming.

I get a lot of feed-back from fellow shooters when I go to events and that motivates me to make attempts at getting my posts going again, but interruptions seem to happen more frequently than they don't.
There's a couple of members right now that are really putting first class posts together on their builds, support them.  There's another handful of us out there that are still building, maybe we'll post, possibly you'll see an article in the Journal about a build - tastes and ambitions change.

Chuck,

I’ve added them to the initial list I put together.

To really do this right, we should have a picture of the build, followed by the link for each one.  Just a little to busy right now to get that done.
