Ideal die markings.

Have an Ideal 28 Stevens tool here and was curious about the markings. Seems like the neck area is right on an empty 28-30 brass.

What does 15-2 B4 mean? Know I can download an Ideal catalog but what years has 28-30?

My Ideal tool is marked 28 Stevens and the die is marked 96.
I don't know what 15-2 b4 means.

It's 84 not B4. Was just curious. It's set just before the crimp so the die is correct.

Not an Ideal expert, but could it be 15-284 for the 284 bullet diameter?

Great idea. 1.5 is about an inch short on the case length though.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Maybe they're telling you it's for a 15" twist, and .284 diameter?

I think tomorrow is its birthday= forty years. the marks read:
15 (day), 2 (month), year (1984).
Have a celebration by using it for something.

Several years ago I did a Google search for a die chart for the numbers stamped on the Ideal #3 dies and found one. Of course no luck finding it now. A chart must exist somewhere.  Shocked

Cornell publishing has reprints. I would get one but want to be sure it's the right year. I'm guessing 1907 to 1914 would have it.
