On a falling block, do you desire an ejector, or just a simple extractor?

If the Cape buffalo is coming for you an autoloader would be great. Some actions if opened smartly enough will turn the extractor into an ejector. But, for most of our purposes, an extractor is best so we don't have to go hunting the brass. Of course, if it is a 22, you may want the case to get well clear of the action when opening.

Good points! From my perspective, an ejector system is a whole lot harder to design and build!

I would want something a bit bigger than a .22 when that Cape buffalo charges. Just sayin’

Yes, as long as the ejector system is good and the chamber is not fouled too much.
I have one that is very particular on how I open the action
for it to reliably eject smartly. Otherwise it often extracts
and it takes my fingernail to "eject" the brass.
My other MKII ejects "wildly" no matter how I open it

My 1915 Stevens Favorite has a very good ejector.
Actually, I wish more of my SS .22’s had ejectors as some of them like to drop the spent case in the action (partly due to my butter fingers). Embarrassed
Mike.

The Ruger #1 has an excellent extractor and spring activated ejector. The Farquharson has a  two-piece extractor/ejector which is a delight to use but tricky to build!
I chambered my Mark 2 martini to a k hornet and it is my 'go to' gopher gun. However the martini, the favorite and the trap door all have blocks that pivot on a pin. They do not share the curse of the falling blocks: the need to get the block out the way by lowering it below the chamber, so extraction can begin. We have picked our own poison!

Definitely martini internationals. My mkll absolutely launches them a good 10 to 12 feet from the rifle and they exit so quick you don't see them till the apogee of their flight if you're paying attention. I've had semi's that didn't send them that far.

I have a 70-150-900 on a martini that might work!

Browning non-BPCR 1885 High Walls have excellent ejectors.  The spring-loaded mechanism is located under the forearm.  For the BPCR models the mechanism was removed resulting in only an extractor.  Their .22LR Low Walls have extractor/ejectors that depend on how fast the action is opened - slow & it's an extractor, fast & it's an ejector.
