Good looking hoodaki Joe, that Rosewood appears to have finished nice.

It did turn nice. No sanding at all. Smells like sweet cinnamon when turning. I'm assuming it will turn very dark like the stocks on the Ballard.

Thanks and Happy New Year you guys.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

That's absolutely gorgeous Joe! What a great palm rest knob for a fine Ballard!

Biggi says it looks like a slider for an old recliner. What do those Germans know anyway...   Undecided

Found this while going through old Journals. Did not care for the round pancake noodle palm rest I made when I used it at Butte earlier this month. Thinking the one on this cover is what I want.

That looks similar to the one you posted recently, except for smaller ribbed shapes. I think it looks pretty neat!

Made a few rosewood blanks today. Warm tomorrow might turn one. Could have done one today but thinking about a Fitzall design. I need a plan. Planning takes time.   Undecided

That's a nice job.

For the intrested. I make beads turning the blank to nearly the major dimension. Then laying out the bead spacing with a divider. Between major dimension separation marks use skew tool to cut down to minor plus a bit between. Finish with a ground form tool And wood type dependent light sanding .

Woods grain makes a difference some easy others like to tear. Form tool very good at uniform bead shapes.  Not so good getting out the deep cuts required, spacing and rough shape.
