Bullet Lube

I'm rebuilding my loading equipment after losing everything in a fire and I just bought a replacement Saeco lubricator sizer. I've always used Lyman Alox as a lube because that's what I started with 50 years ago and have had no reason to change. I was going to buy some until I found out that it is now being made in China which queered the deal. Any suggestions for a replacement? I know that everyone has their favorite but as long as it's in stick form and readily available I'll be good with it.

I have been using Lyman Super Moly for a long time.  Made in the USA.

Has worked very well with smokeless and some BP substitutes.  Might be too stiff/dry for BP.

My luber/sizer has a heater attached and that seems to help it flow when its cold.

Mike.

Smokeless or black powder?

Alberta Schuetzen Lube works well in a RCBS lubersizer without a heater.
This lube works extremely well for either BP or Smokeless powder.
It has been tested to be effective from -40 F. to 110 F. @ 1,826 fps on 20:1 alloy bullets.

The formula to make the Alberta Schuetzen Lube:

35 oz. (993 grams)  Charcoal Filtered Beeswax  (lubricity, stickiness)
16 oz. (454 grams)  Commercial Toilet Ring Seal  (lubricity, increase stickiness)
16 oz. (454 grams)  Crisco Vegetable Shortening  (lubricity, viscosity adjuster)
5 oz. (142 grams)  Anhydrous Lanolin  (lubricity, stickiness)
3 oz. (85 grams)  Ivory Dish Washing Detergent  (emulsifier, mixer, cleaner of fouling)
2 oz. (57 grams)  Canola Oil  (lubricity, viscosity adjuster)
1 oz. (28.4 grams)  Opti-Lube Oil Fortifier  (metal conditioner)

Optional:
2 oz. (57 grams)  Ground Rock Rosin  (increases stickiness) – But will fall out of suspension if melted again for pan lubing.

Add a large can of Black Kiwi Shoe Polish to show bullet holes better on red targets.

Viscosity is suitable for shooting from - 40 F. to 110 F.
Has improved stickiness and will not allow sloughing off at higher temperatures.
Metal conditioning of the barrel reduces the potential of lead adhering.
Has built in emulsifier (does not rely on saponification to occur)  to better collect, mix and wipe out fouling for both Black Powder and smokeless powders.

What Dave won’t divulge is that the “Official” Canadian made Alberta Lube has a secret ingredient that the insiders will not acknowledge. I am here to end that secret. If you want your ASL lubed bullets to be able to shoot 250s consistently, you need to add the secret ingredient. For every batch you will have to source some Canadian Wolverine piss. It must come from wind wolverines, not those in captivity.

Sorry Dave but I had to let the cat out of the bag!

Yes Jack wolverines are part of our Alberta research efforts.
Wolverines are recognized for their strength, fearlessness and verocity that Canadians use to perfect their shooting scores.

In early tests we included moly in our lube until we found out the compression of this from a fired bullet when moisture is present in the barrel will result in the formation of a carbide material that cannot be removed from your barrel.

We shot on a cool day where condensation formed inside of one shooter's barrel.

A carbide formed destroying his accuracy and required the replacement of his stainless steel barrel since the newly adhered carbide could not be removed.

I'll have to go milk some wolverines next time I'm up at the cabin.  I can hardly wait for those 250's to start rolling in Smiley

It use to be safer to leave a picture of Justin Trudeau besides a baited tree in the bottom of a jar.
They would automatically leave a deposit but this is no longer  affective.
Now you need to put a picture of Pierre Poilevre in the jar to entice them to automatically deposit a sample.
Over the last year the American President's disrespect for Canadians means a picture of Trump will provide significantly larger samples.
Much safer than wrestling them into a straight jacket to hold them for a milking operation.

I think the Canadian has just exercised his  free speech. I don’t agree but our president has not been kind to our neighbors. He made his comment in humor.
