Low Wall Rebuild Redux

Several years ago, I purchased an original Low Wall that had been rebuilt by an unknown gunsmith, probably in the 90s or early 2000s when BPCR was at its peak.  The receiver had been nicely case colored and new, plain grain walnut stocks installed along with a light weight, tapered octagon barrel in .22LR (first pic).  A Burris scope was installed on the barrel.  As configured, it seemed to have been rebuilt as a "boy's rifle" or perhaps someone's squirrel rig.  As such, it never really caught on with me.  At that time I was still a BPCRS shooter and occasionally shot .22BPCR as well.  The gun always seemed to me that it could be more than it was.
Well, recently I decided it was time for the little Low Wall to grow up.  I had the receiver re-barreled by DZ Arms in OKC with a Bartlein 28", #3 weight barrel in .22LR turned octagon to round.  The wood is highly figured Bastogne walnut from Treebone Carving which I fitted to the barreled action and finished.  I made the butt plate out of buffalo horn.  The scope is a vintage Litschert 12X Spot Shot that originally came on my Ballard .22.  I'm looking forward to a day at the range with the new "grown up" version of this Low Wall.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Am currently going down about the same road as you. I picked up a RF low wall from here and its currently at CPA having a GM barrel cut to half round, .930 across the flats, 24" long. The stock will be the standard low wall stock with cresent butt plate. Drilled and tapped for scope blocks. With some luck it will be ready to shoot early summer if all goes well. Once the stock is fitted up, the barrel will be pulled and rust blued and the action sent some place for CCH. While that is going on the stock will be getting the finish on it.  I am hopeing for a good shooter. If not it will be an expensive tree rat killer.
