Marcot Sharps Volume 2

When Roy Marcots Sharps Firearms volume 3 and 4 were released there was talk of volume 2 being reprinted. Does anyone have knowledge if that is still a possibility? After I received volume 4 I emailed Mr. Marcot at the email printed on his card that came with the books but have not heard back. With as good as the books are it’s hard not to have the complete set.

I think a bunch of potential reprint customers are announcing their wishes on the Shiloh website.  Don't know how close that's getting them to a reprint, but it wouldn't hurt to add yourself to the list.

I've gotten into the practice of reflexively ordering specialty books like this the minute they're announced, hopefully with an "early-bird" discount, but whether or not.  It's often an annoyance to see them later on remainder shelves or used at gun shows for cheep, but for me, there's no surer route to a "rare and valuable and sought-after collector's item" than my not buying a specialty gun book new and waiting for a used or remaindered copy to show up.

I don't know what is happening with Roy's book, but I would not wait for a reprint. The comment "buy it when it's out is relevant." Typically books are printed in lots of 1000 or more. To do less is tough, as the paper in the book is cheap, but the people that set up the press aren't. I have reprinted some of my books and I found that the customers that couldn't make up their mind the first time, don't do much better when the reprint is available. The other big problem is that "the well is been filled", in that the market is basically saturated. Sure there are 40 or 50 folks that really want the books, but how do you print a large number and sell less than 100? Buy them when they come out. We have seen what happened to the price on Dutcher's Ballard book, and a couple of my books are selling for a lot more than I brought them out at.
