Local gunshow was this morning. Walked out with a low wall in 22lr. British proof marks, good bore, #1 barrel,  Lyman tang sight, factory rear barrel sight,  BSA globe front.

It's in nice shape, you don't find them in that condition very often. Good find!

Changed front sight to a Lyman Combination, pulled rear barrel sight to get it out of the way and took it down to junk pile and tried it on an old freezer. Got it close to zeroed. Maybe better weather tomorrow.

Nice rifle Jordan! It's pretty rare to ever see a rifle go to England that didn't have a shotgun buttplate. Every single shot or lever action I've ever bought with British proofs had a shotgun buttplate. Great find, and very nice condition!

Butt stocks are interchangeable.  The buttstock could have been switched after the rifle was returned to USA.  Is that a reblue job?

Doesnt strike me as a reblue, though the proof marks have blueing in them. Guess I will have to get a letter from Cody and see if it came this way.  Greg, freezers, fridges, washers and dryers make for the best targets especially when starting out. Sometimes thats as far as I get with a rifle.

Well they are on some guns like Winchesters! But other companies serial numbered everything, including wood and changing them is easy to check.

Speaking of shooting at washers reminded me of the time at  a dump in New Mexico when I headed out to post a target of the side of an old washer. As I started to kneel down on some newspaper that was on the ground next to the washer I was greeted by a rattlesnake's tail alert that it would not be a good idea to continue. I found another old washer with no paper.
