If you were to come shoot with us on Thursday nights and take all the quarters you'd have to shoot three cards with an average just below our Mendoza line of .500" for each card...  We have one guy that has been on fire, he shot a .418, .534 and .540 for his three cards Thursday. Most nights he's really close to that.  I've been in a slump the last few weeks and breaking the Mendoza line has been elusive.  A new build I have going is going to change that though Roll Eyes  Wink
Are you shooting caps?

Greg, no. but I know about the game from Gary Quinlan who turned Tony on to it. I’d like to shoot your match but traveling 1800:miles to do it is probably not going to happen, lol.
I have to say that it’s great that you folks are carrying on the tradition of the match. It was fascinating for me to hear Gary talk about going to the original range in Western Pa. and describing the history of the match.

My inspiration for this came from a lengthy conversation with Gary also, nearly 5 years ago.  Between that, what Tony came up with and shooting every week our processes have evolved.  We have several clubs in our area shooting this frequently and I think I just hooked a couple more this week.

I have another boring post put together just haven't got it on the forum yet.  Bear with me and maybe I'll put it on here in the next couple days.

I never heard of using .22 RF ammo in .22 CF barrels.
Just measured a couple 22 LR bullets here and they measure .225 &.226.  Maybe my new Ballard has a CF barrel on it.   Huh

Pull a bullet out of a 22 Long Rifle rimfire  and push it down the barrel and measure it.

If it goes easy you may have a CF barrel.

4570 Mike,
I always wondered where my fast-twist .22 Ballard No. 6 ended up. Does it still have the dual-strike firing pin?

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I had to check the twist rate on my Cody Ballard as I've never done so in many years of owning it. Mine has a 1:14" twist Badger barrel in full round 30" #4 weight barrel. It's a Schoyen model using the #6 style lever. The most accurate .22RF rifle I own. I don't shoot it often at 50 ft. indoors, but it did do well there. Outdoors I've shot it at everything from 50 yds. to 300 yds. and it does well at all distances.

Most accurate .22 rifles I have are 16 twist. Have not tried the new Ballard 14 twist at BR 100 yards yet. Seems perty accurate. So far.

That 12-twist Ballard No. 6 shot almost as good as my 16-twist Schoyen Model from 50-feet out to 200 yards. I did shoot it at 300 yards and I think it did better than the 16-twist, but they were very close in accuracy. It definitely shot better with the 60-grain Aguila ammo at 100 yards. The dual firing pin strike lowered ES with cheaper ammo.

I miss spoke. My RKS gain twist barrel has scored more perfect targets than my Schoyen barrel. Ron said cut it off here so I cut it off there. I can still cut it off where Ron suggested if I decide to. Have no idea what the twist is.
