Hepburn n 38-40 Remington

Cabellas has on their website a Hepburn in 38-40 Remington that they want $4600 for. It’s a schuetzen butt plate, single trigger and looks ok.
Now I know that something is worth what someone is willing to pay but that seem a bit more than over the top. Opinion?

When I have a question of value I check the auction sites like Rock Island and Morphey's to see what the rifles are actually selling for rather than what someone says their worth. You can easily see what Hepburns or Ballards have sold for over the last year. I watch the auctions closely and have gotten some good deals over the years. As far as Cabella's goes I don't think that their descriptions are adequate and that their prices are pretty much on the moon.

That particular rifle has been for sale for a year or so. It does appear to be in very nice shape. If the pictures were as good as some sellers can take it may not be very far off in price.

You need to include further info. Is it a B or an A grade, bore condition etc.
