Any High Wall Zettler triggers out there?
Nov 28th, 2025 at 1:52pm
Print Post
I am trying to install a set of triggers from eBay and the knockoff isn't even coming close enough to trip the long tailed sear.  I wonder if they require a different shaped sear?
Anyone have one?  I would like to see a photo of the sear.

Thanks

Jack

Can you bend your sear down? Most likely have to anneal it first. Make a new sear.

That is a possibility.  Currently when it doesn't trip, you can pull back on the rear trigger to manually trip the sear but if it were bent don, it probably wouldn't reach.  I am thinking maybe bending a long tail sear and adding some length.  That is why it would be nice to see one that works.

I mean the sear that's pinned to the action.

That is what I am talking about too.  I will get a photo later.  It actually stopped raining and I need to get to work on the Ark before the rains come back..  I have the base ready...

Not the right size... 40 cubits? You're too short.

Aye Jack,

Can you post a pic of the top of the triggers?

I plan on doing that in a while. Got to finish watching Survivor and do the dishes.
I just had a thought. I could d&t a hole in the long tail seat and install a flat head screw for the knockoff to hit. Adjustable too.

Here are some photos.  One shows the top.  The next shoes the side with the knockoff portion raised as high as it will go.  The last shows the gap between the knockoff at its highest and the tail of the sear at 1/2 cock.

For a test, I scrounged up a small piece of brass rectangular stock and used some double sided carpet tape to hold it in place.  This works just fine.  I did back off on the sear spring so I want to tighten it up tomorrow and epoxy a nicer brass shim in place.  I could probably just build it up with some brazing rod and file to shape.  It is a new MVA long tailed sear so I am not worried about screwing it up.

Jack, check the screw holding your sear spring to the top tang. It doesn't look completely seated and the sear spring will definitely change the position of your sear when properly seated. When the triggers are set, and you trip the rear trigger, does the knock off jump up and hit the sear at all? Does it jump up and go past the end of the sear? I had the same problem a few months ago with a set of triggers made by an unknown that I bought from Joe do and had to have the end of my MVA sear tig welded to add length.

Yum. Throw it on the BBQ and slap it on a bun with some mustard and sauerkraut.
Then toss it in the trash.

From what I've read, these were eaten by some German folks.  I hope none of my relatives.  I believe you get rid of the insides and fry up the delicious outer part.
