Chris,
I will take your word for it.  Hard to get past the slime.

A new wrinkle.  I pulled the stock of my old 32-40 Post Falls gun show find and the sear is much closer to the trigger assembly.  At full cock, that height is controlled by the sear/hammer engagement.  As you can see the sear is much thinner at the tail end as well.  Unfortunately, the Zettler lower tang is a tad too fat to fit the 32-40 to test it.  Based on the max height of the Zettler knockoff, it might be iffy.
I will have to try a different hammer or do some further disassembly and pull both sears.  Not today though.  I hope to make it to the range to try the 25-35 and the 32-40 DST.

Can't believe that design allows a hole to be drilled through the spring like that. Wonder how much it weakens it and how long the service life is.

The Winchester spring has a hole as well, but they got it right in one operation.

Here is a MVA sear stacked on to an original sear.  The sear tips are aligned. It shows how much higher the MVA sits.  The knockoff on the Zettler triggers hit just inside the black lines.

Jack is there any chance that that thin sear is just a close coupled DST one?

Chris,
It is my understanding that the original DST and CCDST use the same sear. I will have to pull the wool on my CCDST to verify.
Wes,
I haven’t decided which action gets them yet.

Looks like the triggers will work when the MVA sear tail is bent down. No?

Maybe.  Just like you can fire a SST without setting the trigger, you can do it with the front trigger in the Zettler but it only pushes on the rear 1/16" of the sear.  If you bend it, it might not be able to do that. I am not as concerned about what happens with the Zettler, but would like to have a spare original for my two rifles that use a long tail sear since the MVA may not work on those.
Remember my motto: when in doubt buy more parts!

I'm confused. Going by your pictures posted here, it looks like a simple chore to bend and forge the MVA sear to the same exact shape like the original sear. Two parts being exactly the same, your triggers should work when set or unset. Does that make sense?

Jack the close coupled sear is apparently thin like the one in your picture.  I have never looked at mine to compare, but Campbell has a picture of them in his book which I've posted.  In volume #1 he shows them but does not know why some are thick and some thin.  In volume #2 he recognises that the thick one is for the "schuetzen" triggers, and the thinner one is for the close triggers.

But about the MVA... Are you saying the long tailed sears are different than originals?  If so the MVA action has me wondering.  You've already shown pictures indicating the hammers are different and now the sears?  I was told the actions were supposed to be exact copies!

Chris.
