I found a bullet for the DST high wall

I made it to the range today and tried some different bullets in my DST 32-40 iron sight only high wall. The conditions were no completely ideal with the full sun on the 200 yd target and only fixed rear apertures for my original Winchester mid range sight.  Next outing I an going to switch to my Ron Heilman soule sight as I have a merit disk that fits it. There were twitchy winds and I probably should have paid more attention to.
The bullet that did the best is my from my mystery mould.  No a single marking on it.  It seems to work fine in the 16 twist original high wall barrel. My load was 13.2gr of MP300 breech seated.
I am happy with my new right eye!

My new group measuring system. Best 4 out of seven .  New ASSRA iron sight rule proposal. Best 10 out of 15 if the shooter is 75 or older.

...But only after two-fingers of single malt, on odd days of even numbered months that have an R in them, after 3PM (Central Pacific Time). Otherwise standard ASSRA rules apply, unless free beer is provided.

Nice rifle by the way, Jack. Lots O' Potential.

I redid the target picture.  Is that better Wes?

Wes and I did shoot a best 10 out of 12, 600 yd BPC match years ago at Tacoma.  As usual, he brought a rifle he had not shot at that range before.  We had to shoot prone with the muzzles sticking out under a plywood barrier with  18" of space under it.  Only us two were shooting by that time and the spotter, an old and feeble guy didn't want to lie down close to us so he sat about 10 feet away looking through a break in the barrier.  I think Wes took too many shots that the spotter never saw and eventually gave up as he was running out of ammo. I only had 1 rifle, a 45-90 high wall, and managed to shoot 9 10s and 3 nines.  The target puller later said my group was close to 6' at 1 o'clock.  I never got that rifle to shoot that well again.

Perty sure I was using a trapdoor I had just acquired. We might have been the last two shooters shooting to 600 at TR&R. Thought I beat you that day?

Better re-evaluate your new bullet Jack, or start watching your wind flags.

Jack, to me, it looks like the bullets are going transonic and tipping because of it.

Try adding .3 - .5 gr of powder.

I was using a slightly wimpy load yesterday but out of 4 bullets this did the best. I think the seating depth is where it likes to be and yep the next step is to work on powder charges.  I should probably put some scope blocks on it right Joe? Smiley

Joe,
I think you were using something in 44 caliber.  You were cussing’ up a storm at Bob (not Zimmerman) who was spotting. It was the last 600 yd BP match.  The next year Chuck had arranged for the BP shooters to shoot with the high power guys. He backed out the morning of the shoot and I was the only one who showed up. I waited around for over an hour while the high power guys tried to get the 600 yd firing position ready and finally gave up and went home. No further matches were scheduled for that distance.

Never owned a 44. Might have been a 40-50 Ballard. At 600 yards the bullets are sputtering along. No, it was the trapdoor. I was cussing Chuck. He did something, as usual. And I didn't like the firing line. Me cuss?  Undecided

I remember now. Chuck said get in there and do your shooting, we got all day, take your time. But as soon as we started shooting he started chipping his teeth at us to hurry up, hurry hurry hurry. That got me squirreled up. Yes I remember now.
