	OOOP'S I did it again. The "no more rifles for me didn't work." This time it is a high wall by O. A. Bremer, San Francisco. I am sure I paid too much at auction for it but none the less it's now mine. Showed up via UPS this afternoon. First job was run a brush thru the bore to see what I have. Several strokes with a brush followed with a few patches. Out came my Tesalong borescope and I found the bore at 99%. Dropped the breach block and cleaned out the old lube. The hammer has been modified with the thumb piece removed and only a full cock notch remains. No fly. The triggers I am sure are Bremers. The set trigger sets but will not drop the hammer with the first pull but always work correctly with the second set and pull. I will do more work on them in the near future. The front trigger pull, with not being set, is real heavy but will drop the hammer. The bore is 22 short. A 22 lr. will not chamber. The barrel is a #3 Winchester, 28". The front sight is a Beach globe and the rear is a Lyman with the windage adjustable top. The adjustments on the sight are real stiff but a little oil and they now work fine. The barrel has been drilled for scope blocks set at 9" on center. The extractor is in great shape and the firing pin is also good with .040" tip with the hammer down. Now I have get to the range and see what it will do. Anyone else have and experance with Bremer triggers? A. J. Palik

	Nice looking target rifle you have there. I have also told myself "No more rifles". I'm just wondering what will I buy next. It's a sickness as you well know. Anyway, enjoy it A.J. Let us know how it shoots. Dale.

	Bremer's custom scheutzen single shot rifles are some of the finest made! Not as well known as the big names, but his triggers are some of the best I've ever felt. His stocks are just perfect, without being so specialized as to only fit the original shooter. They just have a beautiful style that I really like. I'd be happy to own a Bemer if I found one I could afford, regardless. I think he's one of the great masters.

	This afternoon I had some time so I disassembled the breach block. The hammer has been lightened and the spur has been ground off. There is no half cocked notch as it is being used as a full cock notch. When the lever is lowered the hammer goes to full cock and there isn't any way to lower the hammer other than pulling the trigger. I do not like to dry fire without a round in the chamber. I have another hammer coming to me so I will refit the rifle so I can lower the hammer with the hammer spur. Here is some pictures of the hammer in the rifle and the one I am going to replace it with. A. J. Palik

	I have a Bremer rifle with Bremer's patent triggers. At least on my rifle, I can push the back trigger forward while closing the action and lower the hammer.

	You may run into an issue where the hammer drops into 1/2 cock with that standard replacement hammer. That is why the fly is installed on Winchester set trigger hammers. The simple solution unless you want to source a hammer with a fly is to grind off the 1/2 cock notch. Jack

	I will only use this rifle at the range and only load it when I am ready to shoot. The original hammer uses the half cock notch as a full cock notch. I thought I would use some JB weld and plug the half cock notch and see how the trigger pull is. If I am not happy with that then I will do some grinding on the hammer. If I grind the hammer and use the half cock notch I most likely need to reharden it. I have some Kasenit on hand. QUESTION: if I reharden the hammer should I draw the temper and if so what temperature should I use? A. J. Palik
