Probably best to add a concrete reinforced addition to your house with a large safe door.

My house has a basement, so gun room is down there where it has thick walls covered in dirt. No room to expand any direction without taking out the walk in closet in the basement bedroom, and that wouldn't fly too well!

Simple solution.  Backhoe digs out an extension to your basement.  Cut a safe door sized hole in the basement wall. Pour new walls, floor and a concrete patio on top.   Just do it while you wife is shopping.

Waterproofing and a dehumidifier would help stop rust.

Another option since I live only a couple of hours away, is for me to buy a small safe and you can store the high walls here.

Our old home is 1948 vintage, and basement got finished 39 years ago when we bought it. It's climate controlled and dry as can be. No need for waterproofing or dehumidifiers ever. They knew how to do concrete back then!

Not sure where the  Helm lever post strayed to, but Helm levers and their ilk were designed for single triggers, and look out of place with single and close coupled triggers. An easy fix with a hacksaw and a mig welder. Or someone else's.
